The Above® Brand was created out of our love for Jesus, mixed with our ability to decorate goods. Our hope was to combine the two and create a brand that our Brothers and Sisters in Christ, of every walk of life, would enjoy wearing, and that the Above brand would become a means to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In the beginning, we initially struggled with the idea of clothing being used to minister, and realized that it's not the clothing that ministers, but the person wearing it. Clothing is merely an outer shell and an expression. Ultimately, it's not about the brand, or clothes, but about Jesus. Our hope is that if even one person is brought into the Kingdom of God through our brand, then everything we do is worth it. It's priceless. What we do is such a small part in something that is much more than we can even imagine. It pales in comparison to the sacrifice Jesus made for all of us. To walk in our shoes, putting on the garment of human flesh, experiencing the trials, tribulations, and temptations we face everyday, but to overcome them and even death itself. Giving us true life. Eternal life.
The Above® Brand is based on John 3, but more specifically John 3:31-36. The use of the word "Above" is a reference to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. He has come from Heaven and He is above all. The brand "Above" is in no way a replacement for the name of Jesus, it's just a reference to Him. He is the Word of God through which all things were created, by Him and for Him. He has all authority over creation. He is Above.
31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.
32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.
33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.
34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Our brand and designs are created to strike curiosity and open conversation. That is the sole intention behind all of our merchandise. To share the Word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We consider our merch as an ice breaker. A conversation starter that allows anyone to share their testimony. When someone is intrigued by the message and starts a conversation, this might be that moment to share your testimony. Your testimony does matter and matters more than you can imagine.
We're all inundated with advertising and marketing everyday, to persuade us to buy this or want that. Although we are selling branded merch, we don't want the true message to be lost. That Jesus is Above and that the brand's message is about Him. We're not out to profit, but to use the skills we were given to produce a way as a means to an end. The ends are to share the Gospel of Jesus and to increase the Kingdom of God. To use whatever blessings and gains achieved to further this cause.
